Local Pumpkin Patches and More!
Pumpkins symbolize prosperity, growth, and well-being. They’re also a symbol of fall. Whether you need a few pumpkins to decorate your porch with, one to make a pie with, or to carve into a jack-o’-lantern, we’re here to provide you with information on where to find pumpkins locally.
If you’re looking for a pumpkin patch, look no further than Sharp’s At Waterford Farm (4003 Jennings Chapel Rd, Brookeville, MD 20833) or Larriland Farm (2415 Woodbine Rd, Woodbine, MD 21797). These pumpkin patches will provide you with the fall, farm experience in full. Sharp’s offers free hayrides to pick your own pumpkins. They also offer educational tours. Larriland also offers hayrides for a small fee, as well as a straw maze, a boo barn, and seasonal goodies from local vendors. Both farms also have large markets with an abundance of produce. Pumpkins which have already been picked can also be purchased inside the market.
If you’re looking to make a quicker purchase, consider stopping by Johnson’s Florist and Garden Centers (5011 Olney Laytonsville Rd, Olney, MD 20832) or by St. John’s Episcopal Church (3427 Olney Laytonsville Rd, Olney, MD 20832). Johnson’s always offers a wide selection of pumpkins, ranging in colors, sizes, and varieties. St. John’s does too. The yearly patch in front of their church serves as a fundraiser for their outreach programs. Interestingly enough, the pumpkins sold on their lot are grown on a Navajo reservation in New Mexico, which is another outreach. By purchasing a pumpkin from St. John’s, you’re giving back twice!
Additionally, you should check out your local farmers market. Even if they do not have an entire field of pumpkins, local farmers oftentimes plant pumpkin seeds to harvest a seasonal crop and bring whatever pumpkins their land has yielded to the market, along with their apples, beets, and other fall produce. Olney and Rockville have their own farmers markets. There happen to be an abundance of local markets, so search your town’s market up today!
We at SERVPRO of Rockville-Olney and SERVPRO of Silver Spring North hope you find the perfect pumpkin and all that it symbolizes!
